YOG Weekends

These 2 days, I went to cover 2 YOG’s events; The launching of the YOG Mascots at Suntec on Saturday and the Opening of the Official Olympics Store at Taka today. Tiring weekends.

This is the media pass I got. A YOG Lanyard plus a Mascots pin.

The event was great, I just couldn’t had enough of the two mascots; Lyo (Orange) and Merly (White). I almost ran out of SD card for my camera. Still editing the photos at the moment.

Blocked!

On Wednesday, Sv brought his elder son to office… for what reason, I am not sure. I always hate the idea of having children in office, especially the naughty ones. When they did something wrong, what can you do to them?

His name is OLV… like father like son, he likes to show off… but I can’t blame him as he is still a Sec 1 kid. Anyway, caught him playing online games that day and I recorded this clip below.

I recorded this because he simply ignore not only me but F as well. First he ‘X’ the window when he saw me standing up, then he just ignore me even I looked at him playing game.

This is not the first time I caught him playing online game in the office, many months back, when he came to our office, he did the same thing. I told him not to play game, but he ignored me and keep playing. This time, I just block the internet access without him knowing.

One day I may just block him from coming to the office. LOL

Media

My DVD ROM is dead, not able to watch 24 season 7 with it, but it still manage to read some CDs.

Maple is going for some patches again… like 0.86 already! I installed 0.82 but only logged in once, no mood to play also. Should I download 0.86?

I wont be going for the media preview tomorrow for the event happening this coming weekends, as I won’t be covering that the actual days. But I will be at the same location on Saturday for another ‘bigger’ event, that is the launch of the YOG Mascots and on Sunday, at Takashimaya B2 for another YOG event. Busy weekends!

Downpour

Went to a school in Woodland today and on our way back to office after lunch towards Upper Thomson Road, this is what I saw.

Windscreen so blur

Visibility drops… we are going at 60km/h. I can’t focus the car in front.

Who’s the boss?!

I was suppose to blog last night, but half way I was too sleepy to carry on so I went to bed before I publish my blog.

After reading what I have written, it make no sense. I guess my mind was already asleep when I was blogging, so I deleted what I have written and started writing something new.

I was talking about AC actually. Since boss isn’t around he self-declared as one. He walked around when he got things to do, and when asked him to rush, he blame others for telling him late (another way to earn OT).

He placed a plastic drawer on a table and when I asked about that drawer, he asked me to bring it to the back.

Me: 这是谁的?
AC: 你拿到后尾(后面)去。
Me: 什么叫我拿,你自己不会拿?!
Fl: =.=”

When UR asked him to do thing, he talked back and even asked UR to do it himself. He was kind of yaya these few days, not sure is it because of the statue he placed at the stair new the cargo lift.

Was told that he brought back a Thai (Buddha) Statue and place it at the stair near the cargo lift. UR told me on Tuesday morning, but before I could go and see it at the end of the day. I was told that the management had asked our big boss to see and our big boss has ordered AC to remove it. Heard from others that it’s not the first time he did that. A few years back he did the same thing too.

Weeks back, he wanted to borrow money from UR, and of course UR did not lend him any. He then went to borrow from boss. UR said that boss had always try to side him no matter what he did. Boss said that he need to send money to his wife and daughter in Batam, but he already save a lot on the housing as he is now staying in the office for FREE!

Anyway, UR said he could have casted some spell on boss that’s why boss keep siding him. UR also said that next time, we can just make drink for boss in the morning will do and no need to work as that’s what AC always did in the morning. Make a drink for boss and for the rest of the day.. he is the boss. LOL

Body clock malfunction?

Yesterday, I felt very sleepy while editing the photos I took on Saturday, so I went for a nap… a long nap.

I went to bed at around 2 in the afternoon and woke up just before 6, after which, I started doing my photos again. I ended my day quite late at around 1 plus in the morning, and went straight to bed after that. I felt a sleep after a short while.

This morning, I woke up at around 6.30 but went back to sleep as it was too early. I woke up again at my usual time and find myself fully charged! But in the afternoon, I was exceptionally sleep again.

Usually after dinner I will start to feel sleepy soon, but not today. I was wide awake even until now.

Just hope that I can have enough sleep tonight and wake up fresh again tomorrow morning.

‘Found’ Trip 2 (Images Heavy)

JJ and I were back to the place where we fell and had many sand flies bites yesterday afternoon.

This is a new area (same location) that I discovered that we missed out after the first trip 2 weeks ago. So here we go for another round of adventure with my wound not totally healed and bites that just got better.

Low tide, that’s what we wanted… but not for the marine life.

Little fish caught in a little pool of water.

These are the unlucky ones.

Some crab like creature… not sure what it was.

A fish

Gotcha! It’s still alive, throwing back to deeper ‘pool’

Watch where you stepping.
See how shallow the water was.

A fish in a mud pool, JJ try to save it from dying.

Some worm

More fishes

Sea slug

See how the wave carries it away.

A kind of sea cucumber

Another sea slug

Baby squids! We witness how it hunt small fishes. That’s cool!

A pair of sea slugs? Looks like they are mating? Mai disturb!

Two more sea slugs

After which, we went for our dinner at Bedok. We left early to avoid the attack of the sand flies. But I still got quite a few bites on both legs. Argh!!!!

But there will be another part 3 or even part 4, considering this is part 2 of our trip as we have not finishing exploding the whole area.

After dinner, we went down to Orchard. I have not been there for like years (as in ,really walk around and see things). So many changes here and there.

While waiting to cross over to Orchard Central, we saw some APEC dedicates escorted by police. Took some shots with panning.

First X’mas lighting photos with my this D80. No tripod, so my f-stop is at it’s max and ISO at 1K.

New lens

No, I didn’t buy another; Nikon replaced my, less than a month old, lens with a new one. Amazing?

I am not sure why they did it, maybe it’s for the sake of … you know, stop me from complaining over and over again. Maybe it’s that manager’s idea… who knows. Not sure why, but every time I sent my gear in, I will somehow bump into him. Then he will start asking me what happened and if I am being served and during collection, he will ask if everything is ok. He is scaring me. LOLx

Ok regarding my lens; I sent in just to make sure that both my camera and lens are working normal as I did not expect to have funny sound emitting from the new lens. I searched the net but I couldn’t find any related article on my problem, so the only way to check is to send in to the service centre.

According to the NSC, both the ‘clicking’ sounds, as well as the focusing sounds are normal. I tested on the new lens and found that the ‘clicking’ sound is softer than my previous lens, so I choose to take new lens.

Among the 3 lenses I bought, I still love my 50mm F1.8D from Nikon for the sharpness. The Tarmon 17-50mm is good except for the distortion in some area. Had not really tried the Sigma 70-200mm yet… will try it one day.

LOUD lens

My Nikkor 50mm F1.8D was sent to the NCS today cos of the loud ‘clicking’ sound when in anything between F1.8 to F3.5.

After they did some test, I was told it’s normal due to the aperture thingy. I requested for another lens to test. It does has the same clicking sound, but not as loud. They also noticed the loud focusing sound on my lens, and I was told they did some adjustment while I was there, but I didn’t seems to notice any differences before and after… For now, my lens is IN for checking/servicing. Good thing it’s the lens and not the body, as the body is no longer under warrantee.

Seems like I have got myself a LOUD lens. Hope that it wouldn’t go BOOMZ. BTW, this is one of the new lenses I bought the other time… about a month old?

These few days did nothing but to find new clue on the place we went last week. I think we only managed to conquer half of it the other time we went, now, planning for the second half is on the way.

I ‘operated’ on my wound on Sunday by myself. The deep cut doesn’t seems to heal very well. It’s a little swollen with pus due to inflammation, and the already dried blood is peeling off.

Using a small scissors, I peeled open the deepest part of the wound and cut off the dead tissues. Wiped off the pus and wash my wound with a wet tissue and let it to dry. In just hours, it’s healing well.

One week had past, and the marks left by the sandflies are still visible and itch when I accidentally scratched it. I guessed I need to wait for another week?

A fire broke out next to my block few hours ago, I didn’t go to kapo this time as I was busy with my things. Maybe will go and have a look tomorrow morning on my way to work.

Itchy itch

Bites from the sand flies started to get itchy since last evening. Worst thing was, some are on my wound! I can’t scratch, I can only rub or pinch the bite marks.

According to James, it will take about a week to recover. WTH!! I got like more than 10 bites on each leg and both my arms. (R leg 20; L leg 14; R arm 6; L arm 3)

I managed to wash away the crude oil stain on my shorts last night which I had it last Sunday when I fell. Took me 1/4 cap of a small WD40 spray to get the stain off.

My shoe is still wet with the seawater and sand in it. I wanted to wash it today, but need to rush some work, so I think I will wash it tomorrow after work. Think I should go to get filter for my lenses tomorrow… maybe after work or during lunch.

Night Safari Halloween Horror

Last Friday, I went to the Night Safari Halloween Horror to cover a mini event by our company.

This mini event was supposed to be organised and lead by Bangala, but ended up Fe was the one doing the whole thing. We were actually given free tixs, but ended up only 20% discount. All thanks to Bangala.

Bangala supposed to lead a group of student to cover the Halloween event there but as usual, all she did was nothing. Fe ended up liaising with the Zoo people and when the date was confirmed, she handed over to Bangala. She had chicken pox so was on MC for 2 weeks.

1 week after she got back from her MC, she then realised that Bangala did not continue to liaise with the Zoo people. By the time Fe got back to them, our reputation was almost to the edge of the drain.

Bangala blamed Fe for not doing her work, which was supposed to be hers (WTF) So, to save our reputation. Fe contacted the Zoo people again. Bangala again remain silent while we were saving our skin. At the end of the day, when everything was done and we had confirmed with the Zoo people, Bangala said she and her daughter will be going. (NB!)

We had two groups of students. Bangala supposed to lead group 1 and another leader to lead group 2, where Bangala junior was in. I separated them as I do not want to see thing that I don’t wished to see.

I do not know why Bangala ended up leading group 2 where Bangala Jr. was. And thing just as I expected. Mother and daughter, and mother teaching daughter and the rest of the gang was like just tagging behind her.

Worst thing was, she even ordered me to take photos for their group. I told her straight off that each group had already assigned with their own photographer. I am there to cover them covering the event. (NBCCB!!!!) I almost shouted back at her but was stopped by Sv.

Anyway, not a good day for an event too due to the heavy downpour. Only managed to be at the gate/ticketing area to snap some shoots, we did went in to a trail, but it was raining, so no photo was taken inside.

Here are some of the photos taken at the safari. (Bangala not included)

It was jam along Mandai road, accident suspected. See the ambulance rushing towards the scene.

Photo taken inside the car.

Found!

JJ and I decided to hunt for a place we saw on some blog. All thanks to Google map (satellite images).

Weather forecast said it would rain in the late afternoon with thunder, but the weather was good over there. Took quite a number of photo with my new 17-50mm at f4 throughout, and that’s all I need. Love the minimum distance of 27cm, unlike the rest of 45cm.

Had a fall on the rocky seawall, deep wound can’t stop me from carrying on the venture. We moved on.

Photos coming soon..

I missed this song

Training to be soldiers,
Fight for our land,
Once in our lives,
2 years of our time.

Have you ever wondered,
Why we must serve,
Cos we love our land,
And want it to be free, to be free.

Looking all around us,
People everywhere,
Children having fun,
While we are holding guns.

Have you ever wondered,
Why we must serve,
Cos we love our land,
And want it to be free, to be free.

Snap and show

He did it in front of boss during lunch today. Though unintentionally, we still heard him taking orders.

During lunch, he walked off when his Popeye’s ring tone goes off, we walked away and when he was coming back, he didn’t expect the caller to carry on talking, so we heard him talking in a different manners.

The ‘second’ call he answered was just when boss and the rest finished their meeting and walking out. Fe and me saw him taking down orders. Fe even took a photo of his note while he was away and show it to boss. Kovan – 3 noodle, 1 Chilli, 1 beef powder. When did we have a branch in Kovan selling all these?

His manager was called in for questioning. Not sure the outcome as I was about to go back. But I am sure this manager, aka his good friend will be kena buah until very jia lat.

First facebook, now sideline. I think he can just quit this job and take that sideline while surfing FB all day at home.
